No year can end without a Shah Rukh Khan film and after a long wait, the much anticipated movie, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, is finally making it to the theaters in the coming weekend. More over, RNBDJ happens to be the comeback of Aditya Chopra who gave Bollywood, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, a film that still runs full houses at Maratha Mandir and whose songs are a game starter at any Antakshari sessions.

The music of this film seems promising but does Rab Ne… have in it to make it to the chartbusters? Salim- Sulaiman the musical duo behind the charbusting numbers of Chak De! India, Iqbal and more recent Fashion are the composers of this film. Well this duo has their own niche genre and with the films they have done, it seems they can do good patriotic and inspirational soundtracks but a film which is based on a dance competition is a tough call. Let’s see what this duo has to offer in this much awaited album.

Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai – The album begins with an extremely romantic Roop Kumar Rathod song and the singer once again manages to live up to the hype of Tere Liye from Veer Zara or Maula Mere Maula from Anwar. The soft music blended perfectly with the melodious voice of the singer takes the song to a new level. The song has an out an out sufi feel to it.

The famale version of the song has been beautifully sung by Shreya Ghoshal. The song is comparatively shorter, slower and more emotional than the one sung by the male singer.

Haule Haule – This peppy number sung by Sukhwinder Singh has also been the first promotional song of the film. The romantic song became an instant hit as it grips the listener’s attention in the very first time itself. The use of harmonium giving the base music in the times when hip-hop and techno music is getting popular is a refreshing change. This is also the first promotional song and gives an insight of the extra ordinary love story with an age gap between the couple.

Dance Pe Chance - This is a typical fast paced number sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Labh Janjua. It is a fusion of bhangra and electronica music. It is a dance number with Hinglish lyrics straight off the streets. The song is good and can get anyone groovy!

Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte – The song brings back the lovely memories of the yesteryear romantic numbers. Right from the ‘oodling’ of Kishore Kumar, the ‘Yahoo’ of Shammi Kapoor to thrilling music of Ek Haseena Thi of Karz, the song is a potpourri of many classic songs. Hats off to the lyricist Jaideep Sahani who has brilliantly amalgamated and created this wonderful song!

Dancing Jodi – The album marks its end with a four minute remix version of all the songs. The song is a perfect club mix with its foot tapping beats and can be a dancer’s delight.

Overall the album has chartbusting numbers with a varied range of music right from Sufism in Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai to bhangra-electronica fusion in Dance Pe Chance, the romantic melodious Haule Haule that can make you fall in love all over again and the club mix Dancing Jodi to get your feet tapping on the dance floor.
