Season’s Greetings 2010 will be welcomed with Season’s Greetings. This is the name of the film that will release on January 1st. UTV motion pictures didn’t have a good year in 2009 and they hope to begin 2010 with warm good wishes and that’s what is Season’s Greetings. A journey from December 30th to the 1st January, Season’s Greetings is a potpourri of many stories all of which unite on the first day of a new year. With an assemble cast of Shreyas Talpade, Tabu, Sohail Khan, Jaaved Jaffery, Ashish Chowdhury, Vatsal Seth, Saurabh Shukla and others, Season’s Greetings is one of those feel good films that make people fall for it even though it doesn’t boast of any prominent star. If this movie manages to pull the crowds, UTV can look forward to a glorious year with star-studded films ready to release in 2010. |

Chance Pe DanceAs rumoured, Chance Pe Dance is a semi-autobiography of Shahid Kapoor. However, the notion of an autobiographical film so early in his career is unfathomable, yet for Shahid’s fans it will be a treat. Since it’s a movie about a dancer’s rise to super stardom overnight and it’s consequent obligations, people will get to feast their eyes with Kapoor’s immaculate moves. Not many get a chance to showcase their love on screen and definitely Shahid wouldn’t want this project of his to go unnoticed. The film is slated to release in January. |

RajneetiIt may be a typical Prakash Jha potboiler on the lines of Gangajal and Apaharan but Rajneeti managed to grab many eyeballs due to its casting which is a mixed bag of old and new. While Jha retained his favourites Nana Patekar and Ajay Devgn in this film too, he got new bloods and presently the reigning ones, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif on board too. Supposedly based on the Nehru-Gandhi’s political dominance on Indiam political hemisphere, Rajneeti has been much-awaited as for the first time Katrina Kaif won’t do what she does in all her movies – just look pretty. Her look is modeled after Sonia Gandhi and she’s rumoured to have spoken in perfect Hindi. The film releases in January. |

Rann Ram Gopal Varma’s vengeful movie on the media culture in the country, Rann is also one of the most eagerly awaited movies. As typical of all RGV movies, it also ran through its share of controversies what with ‘Jana Gana Mana’ being reprised as ‘Jana Gana Mana Rann Hai’. Rann has the mighty Amitabh Bachchan in the main lead with Riteish Deshmukh, Rajpal Yadav, Monish Behl, Paresh Rawal and others. Unfortunately, for Ramu, people don’t have much hopes with him after Agyaat stayed unknown for everyone. Rann releases in January. |

VeerBeing promoted as Salman Khan’s dream project, it would be interesting to see if lavishly made Veer gets honoured in the theatres this coming January. With 2009 being a bad omen of sorts for big budget movies what with they bombing at the box-office, Veer could break the jinx if it succeeds. Going by the looks of it, the movie is interesting though Salman Khan’s bulky stature can come across as a dampener after the superb six-pack act in Wanted. Veer releases on January 22, 2010. |

Pyaar impossible1 Geek + 1 Beauty = Pyaar impossible but when it comes to Bollywood everything is possible. Yash Raj Film’s Pyaar Impossible is yet another story of how a nerd manages to get a girl who is super hip and classy. With a confused cast of Uday Chopra and Priyanka Chopra, the film marks YRF’s opening innings in 2010. YRF had 1:2 ratio in 2009 with New York flying high and Dil Bole Hadippa and Rocket Singh beating the dust. It is made on the lines of Shirish Kunder’s Jaan-E-Maan where geek Akshay Kumar turns into a socially amicable guy and bumps into his college love who never thought people like him actually existed. Whether this film will do the trick for this hit starved production house is yet to be ascertain, but it has already created an amount of buzz among the cinegoers. The film releases on January 8, 2009. |

Dulha Mil GayaDulha Mil Gaya is not a Shah Rukh Khan movie even though his supposed cameo became a full fledged role at the end. Nevertheless, the film will get the brownie point for at least having SRK in the film. A film, which has been in the making for quite some time now, Dulha Mil Gaya, could also help Sushmita Sen frequent silver screens more than jewellery exhibitions. It’s again a story about a nerdy girl’s dreams of marrying the hottest hunk and coolest dude of town Fardeen Khan with Sen as the cupid. What is SRK doing in the film will only be known after the film hits the theatres. If reports are to be believed, the film might rival YRF’s Pyaar Impossible on January 8. |

Peter Gaya Kaam SeA TV Serial find Rajeev Khandelwal might have shown promise with his act in Aamir yet 2009 was full of bad news for him. While Return Gift got withheld due to the director’s illness, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is also having second thoughts about him for his Chenab Gandhi. Nevertheless, the boy is ready to hit screen in 2010 with Peter Gaya Kaam Se, one of those low budget films that click at the theatres in spite of being star-less. UTV SpotBoy’s presentation Peter Gaya Kaam Se is a fast-paced action adventure movie with a romantic twist. It is directed by John Owen. The film is unique in a way that it talks about a motorbike taxi rider who gives people ride to their destination on his bike. While Rajeev was seen in a more dignified and polished look in Aamir, he will be seen in a diametrically opposite role in this film. The film will release in the Valentine’s week. |

Teen PattiTeen Patti is a coming of not only two legends together – Amitabh Bachchan and Sir Ben Kingsley but also of two diasporas and two absolutely contrasting film worlds – Hollywood and Bollywood. While Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards did it for Kambakkht Ishq in 2009, Kingsley in Teen Patti will do it in 2010. Teen Patti is an emotionally riveting and razor sharp thriller. Set in India and England, the film revolves around greed, deception and imagination. The film is directed by Leena Yadav and produced by Ambika Hinduja under her banner Serendipity Films. The film is slated to be released in February 2010. |

My Name is KhanMany are waiting for 2010 only for My Name is Khan. Other than Billu, Shah Rukh Khan stayed away from the 70 mm in 2009 - a void felt deeply by his fans. Quite obviously, the craze for the film is manifold. Though SRK might not bee seen in a typical romantic role, My Name is Khan is definitely a love story with this decade’s best jodi on screen – SRK-Kajol. The film is about a man who’s suffering from Asperger Syndrome. Interestingly, his disease gets him the love of his life, but his surname ‘Khan’ drives her away from him. It’s a post-9/11 story and the plight of Muslims in the US after the twin tower demolition. The film is slated to release on Feb 12, 2009. |

KitesSeeing Kites once more in the upcoming list for next year might be very disappointing for all Hrithik Roshan fans. More so because, apart from a minuscule appearance in Luck By Chance, Hrithik stayed away from the silver screens. But as Rakesh Roshan would have it, instead of releasing it, Kites only got deferred every month in 2009. Hoping against hope, that it will see the light of day in the next year. Kites is about an Indian boy’s romantic affair with a Latin girl and their predicament as they do not understand each other’s language. Though the film also has Kangna Ranaut in the cast, it’s always Hrithik and Latin Bombshell Barbara Mori’s chemistry that is being talked about. The film might release in March 2010. |
