Married co-star Kalpana Kartik (Real name: Mona Singha) secretly in 1954 on the sets of his film Taxi Driver. It was a love marriage, following his break up with singer-star Suraiya after a torrid courtship. He had met Mona, who was a Miss Shimla, on the sets of Baazi, where she played a cameo. Though separated since the early ‘60s, Dev and Mona live in the same bungalow, on two different floors.

Has a son and a daughter. Son Suniel Anand, 51, unmarried, manages Dev’s hi-tech Anand Studio in Mumbai. Daughter Devina, a divorcee with a daughter, teaches at Woodstock, Mussoorie.
