Salim Khan turns to film distribution for Sohail

Jul 03, 2009

Salim Khan intends to become a film distributor starting with his son Sohail's forthcoming film, Kissan, which will feature the song Mere desh ki dharti from the 1967 film, Upkar.

Salim will buy the all-India distribution rights of the film. Sohail had a talk with UTV Spotboy, co-producer of the film, to finalise the distributorship deal.

Salim Khan confirmed the news and Sohail said, "Although I have already spoken to Ronnie Screwvala (UTV), the terms and conditions are yet to be finalised."

As for buying the rights of Mere desh ki dharti, sources say that Sohail will have a special promotional track of the song in Kissan.

Commenting on his meeting with Manoj Kumar, Sohail said, "We have already got all the necessary permissions from Manoj Kumarji. However, we still have to meet the concerned people in HMV (which shares the rights of the song with Manoj Kumar) to finalise the details by early next week."

Kissan is based on land acquisition, industrialisation and farmer suicides and stars both Sohail and Arbaaz Khan.
