Sanjay Dutt

Sanjay Dutt aka Sanjubaba has had a roller coaster life and career in Bollywood. Dutt was born to one of filmdom's most well-known star couples, Nargis Dutt and Sunil Dutt. Sanjay who began his career with Rocky (1981) has evolved through the years from playing angry young man to action hero and more recently, a loveable gangster.

His popularity soared in the 80’s with several successful films in the 1980s, including Vidhaata (1982), Naam (1986), and Hathyar (1989) making the tall, lanky and droopy eyed Sanjubaba a household name.

Sadak and Sajan were two films which also enabled him to change his image from the next angry young man to an action hero. These coupled with Khalnayak made him immensely popular in the 90’s. Daag – The Fire was another feather in his cap.

He has won several awards for his roles especially for the film Vaastav. Many of his performances have been critically acclaimed, with his acting in Kaante being particularly appreciated.

He is popular even in the current decade with his films Munnabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai achieving tremendous success. His performance in both the films was highly appreciated by audiences and has made him an icon even to young audiences today.

Despite the highs and lows of his career and personal life, Sanjay Dutt has established himself as a reigning contemporary superstar who has often been praised for his soft heart when he has helped many people working with him in Bollywood.

However the future of his career is uncertain as he has recently been sentenced to 6 years behind bars under the Arm’s Possession charges.
