Farah Khan

Farah Khan is a choreographer whose roots are in Indian cinema – her mother, Menaka, is the sister of Honey and Daisy Irani, child stars of yesteryears and her father was Kamran Khan (producer). Her brother is Sajid Khan , comedian and film director. Farah was the first to choreograph a song in slow motion with 'Pehla Nasha' in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992). Another of her hits, 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' in Dil Se (1998) was shot on the top of a train. Her versatility is evident when the dream like sequences of 'Pehla Nasha' are compared to the zesty 'Chaiyya Chaiyya'. Some of her other hits incude Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Sarfarosh (1999), Fiza (2000), Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000) and Bluffmaster (2005). Apart from winning accolades for her work here, she has achieved international recognition with her work in Monsoon Wedding, Bombay Dreams and Vanity Fair and has also trained latin sensation Shakira for a desi version of her hit 'Hips Don't Lie' for the MTV Video Music Awards 2006. Farah Khan turned writer director with the hugely successful Main Hoon Na (2004) and the more recent Om Shanti Om (2007). Her cinema is a throwback to the Manmohan Desai school of film making with its high 'masala' quotient. Farah Khan married her editor Shrish Kunder in December 2004 and is currently expecting triplets.
